Elizabeth Tinneny was the sixth child and
third daughter of Francis Tinneny and Annie
Dolan. She was born in Belturbet, County
Cavan on November 5, 1903. Her family
nicknamed her Lizzie but she preferred
Betty, according to her niece Madge Tinneny
Joyce of British Columbia, Canada.
As a young woman Betty went off to England
to live and work. At one point during her
time in England she was employed as the
housekeeper for a Mr. Christy who the
headmaster of the Westminister High School
in London.
When she was 49 years old Elizabeth married
James Miskelly. James was five or six years
younger than Betty. He had been born in
Saint Fiald in County Down and was a builder
by trade.
Betty and James had no children. They lived
at Sunnyside Street, Ormeau Road Belfast,
BT73EX in Northern Ireland. Betty died on
June 17 1987 and was buried in Belfast. She
was 83 years old.
