Photo: Headstone with the inscription of
Mary Jane Malloy Dougherty’s name marking the grave where Margaret
Malloy Tinneny is buried in St. Mary of the Assumption cemetery in
Roxborough. Note coincidentally, the metal grave marker with the
crucifix on it on the grave in the background was made by Margaret Tinneny’s son- in- law Michael Sickinger who was married to her
daughter Catherine. Photo: Courtesy of Richard Tinneny.
Rich had located Yankee Pat’s grave years ago
in Westminster cemetery across the river from Manayunk and found
that his wife Margaret was not buried with him. In the 2-place
grave buried with him was his daughter Elizabeth who had preceded
both he and Margaret in death when she was only 16 years old.
After doing some research in Saint Mary of the
Assumption Catholic Church in Manayunk, Rich located Margaret’s
grave in the burial lot of her sister Mary Jane Malloy Dougherty in
Saint Mary’s cemetery at Lemonte & Cinnaminson Streets near Ridge
Avenue in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. She was buried in
Lot 43; grave 8 Saint Hubert Section of the cemetery. The lot was
owned by the Dougherty family and has a headstone on it with the
inscription Mary J. Dougherty 1858-1916. That Mary Jane was
Margaret Malloy Tinneny’s sister.
Information on the others
buried in the lot can be found in the following extract from the
church records at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church. Extract
