Rich
Tinneny recently located photographs at the Kennedy
Library that were taken when, as a young air force
policeman, he was a member of President John F.
Kennedy’s guard at Otis Air Force Base near Hyannis
Port, Massachusetts on May 11, 1963. Over the
years he had contacted the library and other sources to
see if photos were available since many were taken but
had no luck. He recently learned that acquisitions
over the years included some of the sought after photos.
The occasion at which this photo was taken was the
arrival of Prime Minister Lester Pearson of Canada at Otis
AFB. The President and Prime Minister then went to the
Kennedy compound for the weekend. Rich is the great
grandson of Yankee Pat Tinneny of Goladuff, Ireland,
Greenock, Scotland & Philadelphia.
