Donna Tinneny Persico

In 1980 Donna Tinneny painted a mural on the railroad retaining wall along Main Street near Green Lane in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia. Manayunk is the section of Philadelphia to which Patrick “Yankee Pat” Tinneny emigrated in 1901 from Greenock, Scotland with his wife and family. Donna was assisted by several of her nephews who were young children at the time and others. When it was completed, Donna dedicated the mural to Philadelphia police officer Gary Farrell who was shot and killed in the line of duty around the time Donna was doing the mural.

By 2010 the mural was badly faded and Donna was contacted and asked to re-do it.  With the financial support of local businesses she agreed to do it and the once faded tribute was re-done. More photos, information and a TV broadcast of the restoration can be found at www.manayunkmural.blogspot.com .

Donna is the great granddaughter of Patrick “Yankee Pat” Tinneny of Goladuff, Newtownbutler, Co. Fermanagh, Northern Ireland; Greenock, Scotland and Philadelphia.
