Christopher P. Tinneny, the son of Matthew and Jennifer
Cloer Tinneny is a member of the Ridge View High School Army Junior Reserve
Officer Corps and the unit’s Blazer Rangers Rifle Team in Columbia, South
Carolina. The team competes with twenty six schools around the state of
South Carolina in the Midlands Area League Championship.
The weekend of November 5th and 6th
the team consisting of Cadets Jacob Newman, Jillian LeRoux, Christopher
Tinneny and Jared Banks won every 1st place trophy possible at the 2016
Division II Championship. A week later they competed in the 2016 Greater
Midlands Area League Championship and again, won every first place trophy at
the team level and several 3rd and 4th place trophies at the individual
level.
For two of three years the Blazer Rangers have been the
League Champions. In the words of Major Gene England, the units
Instructor/Advisor, “They have shown what can be achieved through hard work,
discipline teamwork and dedication to the shooting sports.” They next will
be traveling to Anniston, Alabama early in December to begin their season at
the National level.
Christopher is the great-great-great grandson of
Patrick
“Yankee Pat” Tinneny of Goladuff,
Newtownbutler, County Fermanagh; Greenock, Scotland and Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania and the great grandson of
James and Gertrude Spence Tinneny
of Philadelphia.
