John Tinneny lived on the 113 acre island of Goladuff in the town of
Newtownbutler in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland.The island was along the Erne River.Big John was a farmer and a very good swimmer.He was known for having the special gift of being able to recover the
bodies of people who drowned in the river or nearby Quivvy lough.He married Margaret McAdam of Lambrock, they had 14 children including
Patrick 'Yankee Pat' who emigrated to America and established the Tinneny
family here.
