Kellan is the son of Chris and Cyndi
Steele Harrod of New York City. He is scheduled to
graduate from the Special Music School High School in
New York City June 21, 2019. Kellan applied to
universities in the United States, London, Scotland and
Wales, which resulted in an offer to attend the Royal
Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, Scotland. In the
fall of 2019 he will enroll there in the
Music/Theatre/Acting Program. There were 6,000
applicants for the program and Kellan was one of eighteen
students selected. He will be the only American in the
class.
While in high school, Kellan surprised his
parents when he informed them that he wanted a career in
the theater as are his parents and his brother Dalton. As a senior in 2019 he was a
Presidential Scholar of the Arts Semi-Finalist. In
addition to his parents his grandfather John Steele and
his grandmother Catherine “Kitty” McColgan Steele were
heavily involved in theater.
Kellan is the great-great grandson of
John McColgan and
Mary Jane Tinneny
of Greenock, Scotland and Philadelphia and the
great-great-great grandson of
Patrick “Yankee Pat” Tinneny
of Goladuff, Newtownbutler, County Fermanagh, Northern
Ireland; Greenock, Scotland and Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania and his wife Margaret Malloy.
