PATRICIA MARIE ROBINSON (1946-2015) |
Patricia Marie
Robinson, 69, of Hamburg, Pennsylvania passed away
suddenly on November 13, 2015, at home. Born September
19, 1946, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the
late Edward Paul and Marie Rita (Tinneny) Kratz. She
grew up in the Manayunk neighborhood in Philadelphia at
344 Carson Street. On March 18, 1966, she married John
Andrew Robinson, who survives at home. They shared more
than 49 years of marriage together, initially living in
an apartment in Jenkintown, followed by a couple of
years on Shurs Lane in Roxborough, and settling down for
many years on Shelbourne Street in the Burholme
neighborhood of Philadelphia. After her husband's
retirement, they moved to Hamburg, Pennsylvania. |

Patricia had a
fond love of animals and had been a proud owner of a
series of dogs, cats, parakeets, finches, gerbils,
hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, and tropical fish. She
also went through the trouble of adding a toad caught by
her sons to the family and a garter snake that one of
the cats found in the kitchen one night. One winter day
she caught a pair of field mice in the basement and gave
them a temporary home in a hamster cage eventually
releasing them back into the wild in the woods of
Pennypack Park. She became friends with the local
neighborhood squirrels, feeding them nuts in the back
yard, often allowing them to come into the kitchen
through a window to retrieve treats. Her experience with
animals even led to a part-time job in the pet
department at the Clover department store on Adams and
Rising Sun Avenues in the 1980s. Patricia also enjoyed
spending time with her family, playing board games,
jigsaw puzzles, sewing projects, and the occasional home
improvement project (she once painted the entire
kitchen). She loved watching sitcoms, game shows, and
soaps, and was a big fan of horror and science fiction
movies. She was also best friends with her Mom, often
taking trips together to the casinos in Atlantic City. |

Life
also presented Patricia with health struggles that she
bravely conquered. From the age of 15 she dealt with
type 1 diabetes, dealt with schizophrenia in her 40s,
and non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2002. With her positive
attitude, she was able to overcome all these illnesses,
learn to live with them, and live a longer life than
most that have these illnesses. She was very proud of
her coping with diabetes for over 50 years of her life. |

In
addition to her husband, she is survived by her two
sons, Kenneth (Susan Houser), of Bellefonte, and James,
at home. She is also survived by her brother-in-law,
William C. Robinson (Marlies), of Doylestown, and
sister-in-law, Nelda Ferlic (Kenneth), of Germantown,
Maryland, and two nephews, Randy Robinson (Anacelia) and
Nathaniel "Sasha" Ferlic. She was preceded in death by
her two brothers, Edward Paul Jr. (1979) and infant John
(1965). Services were private. Her ashes were buried in
Saint Michaels Union Cemetery in Tilden Township, Berks
County, on November 7, 2016. |
