Edward Dominic McColgan (1910-1989) was the
son of John Patrick McColgan and Mary Jane Tinneny of Greenock,
Scotland and Philadelphia. Ed was born in Camden, New Jersey
USA. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1930.
During his 23 years in the navy he served aboard the U.S.S. Canopus,
U.S.S. Blackhawk, U.S.S. Pillsbury, U.S.S. Chaumont, the U.S.S.
Dale. U.S.S. Henry A. Walker, U.S.S. Wiley, U.S.S. Northern
Sound, and the U.S.S. Cascade. His military medals and
decorations included the Presidential Unit Citation, the Good
Conduct Medal, Yangtze Service Medal, China Service Medal, American
Defense Medal, "A" Clasp, American Area Campaign Medal,
Asiatic Pacific and Campaign Medal with 4 stars,
European-African-Middle East Area Campaign Medal, the Korean Service
Medal, United Nations Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal.
