Gary Thomas Tinneny (1952-2001) was the son of John P. Tinneny of Philadelphia and Helen Diamond. He was born in Philadelphia and following graduation from high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1970. Although he was trained as a fuels specialist, Gary spent most of his 4 year career either playing ball or detailed to the athletic department. As a star ball player he traveled all around the country with the Dover Air Force Base ball team.  He played in Washington D.C., California, at McGuire AFB in New Jersey, McChord AFB in Washington State and at Patrick AFB in Florida.
