Gavin is a volunteer firefighter with the Taumarunui Fire Station in his hometown of Taumarunui, New Zealand. He is the son of John and Mary Tinneny Barton of Auckland, New Zealand and the grandson of James Tinneny of Roslea, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland and Auckland, New Zealand and his wife Mary Agnes Kenrick.
