Michele Tinneny and Peter Johnston were married June 9, 1979 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in the Andorra section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Michele is the daughter of John P. and Helen M. Tinneny of Philadelphia. She is the great-granddaughter of Yankee "Pat" Tinneny of Goladuff, Newtownbutler, County Fermanagh, Ireland, Greenock, Scotland and Philadelphia.
