Remembrance Of Brothers Edward And Patrick Tinneny On the Anniversary Of The Easter Rising 1916.

Friday, April 3, 2026, representatives of the Matt Fitzpatrick 1916 Society Newtownbutler placed Easter lilies on the Tinneny family grave in which brothers Edward and Patrick Tinneny are buried along with generations of Tinnenys going back to 1807. The bouquet with a note was placed in memory and appreciation of their service as members of the Wattlebridge Brigade of the Irish Republican Army in the struggle for Irish freedom.

The Society’s website contained the following statement concerning the commemoration -     “This is a very important time of year for Irish Republicans as we remember everyone who contributed in anyway to the cause of Irish freedom. From the men and women who were on the front line fight, to those who payed the ultimate price and to the person who assisted in any other way that helped this cause, we pay respect to each and everyone of you. We encourage everyone to wear an Easter Lilly and if possible fly the national flag or possibly any other Republican flags use may have from your house, flat or work premises.”
