OBITUARY
JOSEPH P. MURPHY SR.

1928 - 2012
Joseph P. Murphy, Sr. Age:
84
of Gloucester City, passed
away on August 30, 2012. Born on April 25,
1928 to James and Mary Murphy. He lived in Gloucester
City and Lurgan Northern Ireland, graduated
from St Mary's High School 1947, enlisted in
the US Navy in 1947 and served proudly as an
Aviation Mate until his discharge. Joe fell
in love with Grace Anna Hanley of Brooklawn
and was married Nov. 8, 1952. Joe was a hard
working, fun loving man who provided for his
family and always stood by them. He loved
life and upon retirement from DuPont in 1985
took to the task of being there for his
children and giving guidance and his wisdom
along with more than his fair share of
wisecracks and jokes. As Grace used to say
'He could be a devilish soul who loved to
see everyone have fun.' Joe spent his
retirement years traveling around the world
with Grace visiting many islands, Mexico and
more than a few cruises, the visit to
Ireland was the top of his love list. After
Grace's passing Joe finally made his last
major trip to his family home in Northern
Ireland. Joe had many passions and pastimes
including being a Sea Isle City lifeguard in
his youth, an excellent darts player and
avid champion bowler and of course a
fantastic swimmer, handyman to all of his
family and the cupid to his beloved Grace.
Joe will be missed by his family and friends
and all that knew him. |
