William Gillard was the husband of Helen McKenna (1908-1992), the daughter of Margaret Tinneny and Ed McKenna.  He fought in a tank killer unit throughout the European theater in World War II . He was killed in combat by a concussion bomb on December 24, 1944 and is buried in the American Cemetery in Saint Avould, France.
