Following is an extract of an article that appeared in the
Naples Daily News concerning Debbie’s graduation:
“Deborah
Biggar of Fort Myers had no intention of harboring regrets.
That’s why the 49-year-old finally realized a lifelong dream
Friday evening (May 4, 2007) when she graduated with Honors from
Edison College with a 3.96 GPA. She has now realized her dream
and is a registered nurse. She already has a job lined up with
the trauma and medical surgery unit at Lee Memorial Health
System. Her son, Nick Hoover, 26, also is a registered nurse
and a Penn State Graduate. “He flew down from Pennsylvania to
surprise me,” Biggar said. Biggar used to work in law
enforcement as the Sheriff of Sullivan County, Pennsylvania and
as Director of Sullivan County Victim Services she counseled
victims of rape and sexual assault. When she made the decision
to go to nursing school, it was a big step, she said. I was a
shoulder to lean on,” Hoover said. “I know how hard it is to go
through. She’ll be a great nurse.” Deborah is the daughter of
Joan and Joseph McDonald of Dushore, Pennsylvania."
