Mary
Ann Tinneny, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (or
“Ga”
as she was called lovingly by her grandsons), and aunt,
passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at the age of
89. Born on September 8, 1935, Mary lived a life
characterized by love, determination, and a strong
commitment to her family and faith.
Mary was a beacon of strength and
sentimentality, qualities that shone brightly in every
aspect of her life. Her unwavering belief in the power
of prayer guided her through even the most challenging
times. In her later years, when attending mass in person
became physically difficult, she found solace in
watching Holy Mass on television, continually assuring
her loved ones of her prayers for them.
She had a profound affection for her
family, especially her grandsons. Mary delighted in
attending their baseball games and was always eager for
any adventure that involved making memories with them.
Her family was her greatest hobby, and she dedicated
herself to nurturing those relationships.
Mary's green thumb was evident in her
beautiful garden, particularly her cherished African
Violets. She enjoyed spending her days tending to her
plants, loving the moments she could sit in the sun
while surrounded by the beauty she cultivated. Her
favorite places were the ballpark, the serene shore of
North Wildwood, her backyard sanctuary, and the
comforting embrace of the church, which nurtured her
spirit.
Mary leaves behind her beloved son, James
J. Tinneny, and his wife Jessica, along with her adored
grandchildren, James, John Paul, and Joseph, and devoted
nieces Sharon, Colleen, and Beth. She was preceded in
death by her husband, James J. Tinneny, siblings
Barbara, Joseph, Dorothy, and Kathleen, and parents
Joseph and Dorothy (nee Kelter).
A
visitation will be held on July 5, 2025, starting at
9:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM at
Sacred Heart Church, located at 105 Wilson Ave,
Havertown, PA 19083. Interment at SS Peter and Paul
Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
